Cabin Fever

Shortly after moving to Carson City we made a trip back to Utah. We still had a lot of stuff that was stored there from when we moved to Las Vegas six years ago, so we needed to pack that up and move it to Carson. We ended up spending a few days with my family and then we went to Bear Lake for the Schofield Family reunion. While we were there we went to the cabin with my family. We were able to spend some time with my grandparents and family, help do some cabin clean up and just enjoy the outdoors that we have missed so much.

It is extremely weird to think that we are actually moving. It is something that we have been thinking about, hoping for and planning, for so long. I just never thought that it would be this hard. I expected the physical and stressful part of it, but I was seriously unprepared for the emotional part of it. I know I have said it before, but moving is a huge drain on my emotions! Moving should be a four letter word in my book! I have been trying to keep things together for my kids's sake. The girls are totally excited, but the boys not so much. They don't want to leave their friends, their school and the ward. I knew that if I let them see me sad, it would only make it harder on them.

We were all ready to leave on Saturday morning. Matt and the boys were driving the moving truck up with Matt's brother Josh. I was staying behind with the girls and my mom in order to get the carpets cleaned and turn the house over to the renter. It was surreal to see our house empty. We were the first ones to ever live there, and now we are leaving. Who knew it would make me cry to lock the doors for the last time. This was the home where our two girls were brought to from the hospital. This was the house that celebrated many birthdays, Christmas's, and held countless other memories. I know that we were not going to stay there forever, but it was harder than I thought.

We left early Saturday morning and started out on the long 9 hour drive to Carson City. Lets just say that there is not much between Henderson and Carson City except a lot of desert and sagebrush. We made it safely and are ready to start a new and different phase in our lives. Wish us luck!

We had so much stuff! The moving truck was filled to the brim. We could not fit a piece of paper in by the time we had it all loaded. We had to leave 2 coolers, a slide and a shop vac. Not bad after 6 years of stuff!

There is no "Good" in Good-Bye

Our great and wonderful friends threw us a going away party the weekend before we left. It was wonderful to be able to spend time with the people that had become our family over the past few years. Moving is a terrible thing. It is emotionally and physically draining. There are some people that come into your life at the exact right time that you need them. We have been blessed with so many fabulous people in our lives. The kids are having a rough time leaving theirs and it is no easier for me. I started crying walking down the aisle in Walmart the other day just thinking about it. I had to drop by Kelly's house to pick something up and the tears started flowing again. I don't know how people can move all the time. Paris could not even come and say good-bye to Easton. Kelly said it was to hard for her to say good-bye to her best friend. My emotions and my nerves can't take much more! I know that this is what we have been working towards for the past 4 years, but that doesn't make it any easier. I never thought that leaving would be this hard. I know that we will stay in touch, but it will be different. The day to day companionship and interaction will be gone. I am grateful for the friends in my life and the things that I have learned from them. I will never forget them!

Last Pool Day!

We are really going to miss having a pool right around the corner from us. It was always a great escape from the 115 degree weather in the summer. Here are a few pics from our last visit before the big move!

The Strip

Before leaving the fabulous city of Las Vegas, we decided to head down for one last visit to the Strip. We rarely go down there, only when people come and visit! We went to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and took in a few sights. There are quite a few things I am going to miss about Las Vegas; the fun restaurants, the great people watching, but the Strip also has a lot of things that I hope to never have to see again while walking down the street!

Carson City, Nevada!

I never thought that I would be a resident of Nevada. We have lived here for six years now and it looks like that is not changing any time soon. Matt is buying into a practice and we are very excited. It is very bittersweet to think about leaving Las Vegas. We never thought that we would like it here, but it has become home. We have great friends that are amazing people and very hard to leave. We are excited about our new phase in life and the new experiences and challenges that will come!

Let Freedom Ring

We celebrated in the typical American fashion this year. BBQ, homemade ice cream, and of course fireworks. We also went out to Boulder City again this year. We love it out there. The city puts on an amazing firework show. It lasts about 30 minutes and it is set to patriotic music. We take our blanket, snacks and water (It was only about 107 that day) and spend a few hours at the park. The kids were a little disappointed this year because we did not buy the traditional funnel cakes being that it was Sunday. We had a great time. It is an amazing site to see so many people coming together in the common idea of supporting and celebrating our country.
