Race Day

Our family participated in a 5K and a 1 mile fun run for the elementary school. Austin, Easton and I did the 5K and Matt helped the girls with the 1 mile fun run. The girls were so excited! Sami woke up that morning and ran into our room and shouted "It's race day!" The boys were less enthusiastic, but they did an amazing job.

Sami was a little upset that she was not doing the big race, but after she completed her mile she said that she was happy with that! She ran the entire way and met up with a preschool friend and had a blast. Ava did amazing, with a little help from Matt. She said she was a runner now! They were so excited that they recieved medals at the end. They wore them for the entire day!

The boys did a fantastic job with the 5K. The last one that they ran was last summer, so it has been a while. All they wanted to do was to beat their old time which they did by about a minute. They took off strong at the beginning and it took me a while to catch up with them. By mile 1.5 they had hit the wall. With a little encouragement and pulling they kept going.

(Holly, Amanda, Brooke, Bonnie, Danielle, Kelly and Suzanna)

(Ava, Sami, Paris, Easton, Jack and Austin)

They were excited when they saw the finish line and were able to finish strong. They decided that they need to do this more than once a year in order to get better. "Race Day" turned out great and it was exciting to see the kids so excited about their accomplishment.
